声で筆談 - Facilitating Communication for the Hearing Impaired
声で筆談 (Translation: "Voice Texting") is a mobile application developed with the purpose of assisting communication with individuals who have difficulty with spoken language due to hearing impairments.
The app utilizes speech recognition to convert spoken language (Japanese only) into text, enabling conversations through smartphones and tablets.
Conversations are managed in groups, with each group assigned a unique code to avoid interference or confusion with other groups. Groups can be created and disbanded at any time. For example, two individuals who meet on the street can create a group on the spot by generating a group ID and start conversing together. To join the same group, one person (the one who wants to join) needs to scan the QR code of the other person.
By pressing the start button and speaking, the user's voice is converted into text and transmitted to all members of the group. The transmitted text is displayed along with the speaker's name. The participants and the number of people in the group can be checked at any time.
Additionally, it is also possible to input text using a keyboard instead of relying on speech recognition.
